Lawyers advise companies to wait for SCO outcome, warn of open source risk
NewsForge.com reports: They have no doubt that in the end, Linux will live on and the intellectual property issues around it will be resolved when the SCO Group lawsuits have finally settled. But corporate IP attorneys are reluctant to tell anyone not to worry about the Utah company's infringement claims and the highlighted risks of using open source.... Read More

Alien puppet Linus swiped Linux from SCO, says balanced study
From The Register: The Washington think tank responsible for 'Linux aids terrorism' claims two years ago is at it again. The Alexis de Tocqueville Institution is now casting doubt on Linus Torvalds' authorship of Linux, and implying that it's a knock-off of Unix...Read More

MS-Funded Alexis de Toqueville Institution Attacks Linus, Probably Making Itself a Laughingstock
From Groklaw.net: Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water. . . more FUD attacks. This is so stupid I think we need a parody done by Scott Lazar. But I'll do my best to tell you the news with a straight face. The Alexis de Toqueville Institution, who as you may recall admitted it gets funding from Microsoft, has put out a press release on a "study" they have done that suggests that Linus isn't the father of Linux after all. Another "independent" study with Microsoft peeking out from behind the curtain.... Read More

Why I chose Firefox over Epiphany for my GNOME desktop
NewsForge.com: After all the recent announcements concerning cooperation and integration between the Mozilla Foundation and the GNOME Foundation, I decided to compare GNOME's Ephiphany Web browser to Mozilla's Firefox. I installed Epiphany 1.0.6 and Firefox 0.8 on a Debian "Sarge" GNU/Linux system. After about a week, I came away feeling that Firefox is unquestionably the better browser.... Read More

What's up with that?!? continued
I think I have finally determined the source of my webserver/network outages. I replaced the ethernet cable from the router to the card. All seems well for the time being.

One Glass Of Water, Please?
From DesktopOS.com: To those who already get the direction of my writing and have concluded that this will be about money, I beg to differ with your conclusion; this is not just about money. Instead, it boils down to support in whatever form it can be offered. Everyone cannot give financially for one reason or another of this, I am certain. They can give something however, and that is one of the very many good things about the GNU/Linux community and open source software in general... Read MOre

Debunking Common GNU/Linux Myths
From The Jem Report: With the SCO lawsuit, Microsoft's misleading case studies, confusing messages from analysts, editorials from people who don't know what they're talking about and the ambivalence of on-the-fence CEOs like Scott McNealy of Sun Microsystems, there is a lot of uncertainty and confusion about the GNU/Linux operating system. This article will attempt to dispel some myths and clear a few things up for those interested in finding more information on GNU/Linux.... Read More

addendum to "What's up with that?!?"
Something that I just thought of: my problem may be bittorrent sucking up all my bandwidth downloading the 2.1GB fedora core 2 iso's. I have stopped the client; maybe my server's performance will improve now. Time will tell.

What's up with that?!?
Blosxom is a very cool program. It is amazing really what a little perl program is capable of. I have been having some problems though since implementing two of the blosxom plugins last night. I don't know if it's my isp's connection, my server config, my server hardware, or the plugins. I have been trying all day to track the problem down. Still haven't been able too either. So, if the site is unreachable every so often, then you'll know that more than likely I am sitting in front of my workstation, SSHing into my server, becoming even more frustrated.
