Like I said, I had almost forgotten that I had even made these changes to my xorg.conf file, until just now, when I was forced to use the touchpad for the first time in weeks. It's still a little early to tell, but it seems to work a whole lot better! posted 22:26 [/computers/linux/distros/ubuntu] permanent link Sun, 06 Aug 2006 KDE 3.5.4 for ubuntu #latest kde deb http://kubuntu.org/packages/kde-354 dapper main

The most progress I have made is with the kernel boot option acpi=off, but this causes my wireless to stop working, and gives a message saying something about bcm43xx cannot registerirq If anyone out there has the solution or knows someting I can try, please let me know. If there is a way to make this work, and still have wireless, life would be great. As it is now, life stinks! posted 20:51 [/computers/linux/distros/ubuntu] permanent link Wed, 10 May 2006 Ubuntu Center Alpha 1 Released - Web Based Ubuntu Control Ubuntu Center is a web based interface for accessing all kinds of information that's being stored on your computer running Ubuntu Breezy, Kubuntu, XUbuntu, or even nUbuntu box. Ubuntu Security Notice USN-262-1 March 12, 2006 Ubuntu 5.10 installer vulnerability https://launchpad.net/bugs/34606 =========================================================== A security issue affects the following Ubuntu releases: Ubuntu 5.10 (Breezy Badger) The following packages are affected: base-config passwd The problem can be corrected by upgrading the affected package to version 2.67ubuntu20 (base-config) and 1:4.0.3-37ubuntu8 (passwd). In general, a standard system upgrade is sufficient to effect the necessary changes. Details follow: Karl Øie discovered that the Ubuntu 5.10 installer failed to clean passwords in the installer log files. Since these files were world-readable, any local user could see the password of the first user account, which has full sudo privileges by default. The updated packages remove the passwords and additionally make the log files readable only by root. This does not affect the Ubuntu 4.10, 5.04, or the upcoming 6.04 installer. However, if you upgraded from Ubuntu 5.10 to the current development version of Ubuntu 6.04 ('Dapper Drake'), please ensure that you upgrade the passwd package to version 1:4.0.13-7ubuntu2 to fix the installer log files. update your systems
