Latest emelfm2 (0.3.2) for ubuntu edgy
Here it is emelfm2_0.3.2-1_i386.deb for ubuntu edgy. Link to download page is on the left hand side of this page. Offical site : emelfm2.net. YMMV with this deb package. It installs and works, but I have had some issues with icons. It will probably work just fine though. If you do have problems, google around for a fix, or install from source. I would be interested in knowing either way, whether you have problems, or if it works flawlessly. The source install is drop dead simple anyway (make, then make install -- well 1/3 more simple than a standard source install).

internet woes part II
Progress: After upgrading the firmware on both of my routers I now have half my speed back. btw, for those as ignorant as I was, upgrading your firmware erases any custom settings you may have made to your router(s) :-). Hopefully all will be back to full speed soon.

Internet woes
Is that how you spell woes? Anyway, something is amiss with my adsl connection. My download speeds are down anywhere between 12 and 50 kbps. I can connect just fine, it's just slow. My IP address is changing more frequently too. This is started yesterday. We had a a couple of storms over the weekened, mostly high winds with little to no lightening. I have called my provider, and they are suppossed to be calling me back any minute now. Copper wire sucks sometimes.

Lawrence Lessig's Free Culture
I just read Lawrence Lessig's book Free Culture How Big Media Uses Technology and the Law to Lock Down Culture and Control Creativity. This book is VERY important, and VERY good. I am not much of a book reviewer, but I do know a great book when I read it. I couldn't stop reading this book; I haven't had time to surf the web, listen to music, blog, podcast, watch TV or anything this past week, but I made time to finish this book once I started reading it. If you've never cared about the public domain, or if you have never given second thought to how our culture is made, PLEASE read this book. If you want a history lesson on the subject of intellectual property rights and the United States Constitution, PLEASE read this book. If you just care about freedom, PLEASE read this book. If creativity or innovation is important to you, PLEASE read this book. Lawrence argues articulately and with passion, citing countless examples, and clearly details, while offering solutions, what is happening to our our culture, our public domain, and our future.
This book is alarming and informative. Read this book, and you will have your eyes appropriately widened to this very important issue.
