emelfm2 for ubuntu
emelfm2 is a file manager for UNIX-like operating systems. It uses a simple and efficient interface pioneered by Norton Commander, in the 1980s. The main window is divided into three parts, described as "panes" or "panels". Two of those (side-by-side or top-to-bottom) show the contents of selected filesystem directories. The third pane, at the bottom of the window, shows the output of commands executed within the program. Those panes can be resized, and any one or two of them can be hidden and unhidden, on request. A built-in command-line, toolbar buttons or assigned keys can be used to initiate commands.
I have built an ubuntu 5.10 (breezy) deb package of the latest release of this killer file manager. Download emelfm2 for ubuntu 5.10 emelfm2_0.1.3-1_i386.deb

Me, an artist?!?
I don't think so. But I am rather proud of the lottalinuxlinks logo change I made for Christmas. I have never really been happy with the logo I created for this site back in 1999, and have always felt that it just wasn't what I wanted. I stuck with it though. I learned something about the negative effects of change when I moved my page from mindspring's server to my own webserver, which sits no more than 2 feet away from where I am typing. I lost some serious page rank when google lost web page during the migration. I didn't plan the move, and wasn't aware of what needed to be done to move my page and and not have search engines lose site of you. Live and learn... so I kept the logo, thinking maybe it didn;t need changing after all. But today, I had the idea to spruce it up a bit for Christmas. I am no artist. I did the logo back in '99 using GIMP. I came home from work today, and whipped this new logo together, using GIMP again, in about 15 minutes. Quick and dirty. It's not the best in the world; but I am proud of it anyway.

Speaking of podcasting
The audacity. Good stuff, open source.
I decided to podcast the sermons after I purchased my iPod, which I purchased right after my new Honda Civic (40 mile commute begs for 40 mpg fuel efficency). The 2006 Civic, Motor Trend Car of the Year, comes with an audio in jack, perfect for iPod lsitening on the long commute. Anyway, after subscribing to my first podcast is when I decided to delve into podcasting the church sermons. It's fun and easy.
I have been given serious thought to doing a linux podcast......hmmmmmm.

I'm a podcaster
I started podcasting my Church's sermons back in August. While I was learning the ropes I missed a few Sundays; but the last 9 weeks it has become quite easy.
Got to the podcast page and take a listen, or subscribe using iTunes (search for First Baptist Chruch Norris).

Since my last post.....
Almost 6 months have passed since my last posting to this blog! I think I will (famous last words coming up fast) start at least one of me new years resolutions early this year. I am going to try to post more on this blog. In the past I linked to sites I thought were cool, and didn't have much to say in the form of opinion. That may or may not change; but I am going to try to post daily--or twice a week minimum.
I have moved from fedora core yet again, back to a debian based distro. I have been running ubuntu on my desktop computers (still running debian stable on my web server). I will NEVER go back to another rpm based distro as long as ubuntu/debian allow me to install once, and upgrade to all future releases. As I mentioned in my last post (6 months ago) the upgrade from woody to sarge was a thing of beauty. The upgrade from ubuntu 5.03 to 5.10 went off without a hitch as well.
Linux is nice~ i have been using linux since 1995 or so, and it just keeps amazing me!
