Dynamic DNS (DyNS) Update Behind Router
Here's alittle howto of sorts from FedoraNews.org: "Like most broadband services, my home broadband ISP network IP is dynamic, meaning, my IP doesn't always stay the same. If I want to have a means to access my home computer easily, say from work, I will need to subscribe to one of the many free Dynamic DNS services available on the internet. One of my personal favourite is DyNS (www.dyns.cx). They offer simple no-fuss sign-ups and very intuitive, clean and easy to use web-interface. And they have made most of their services free. Really neat!"...Read More

Latest MySQL Fails to Quiet Licensing Critics
From InternetNews: Open Source database vendor MySQL AB released its latest incremental release last week (version 4.0.20), but according to some in the community, it still doesn't address what some say serious licensing concerns. But first, you lazy louts, you have to get up out of that comfortable but mind-numbing GUI hammock you've been napping in and exercise your typing fingers. If you need additional motivation to break your GUI addiction, consider the fact that Microsoft recently patented the act of double-clicking your rodent. Enough said."....Read More

Grokline's UNIX Ownership History Project
This is an open, community-based, collaborative research project, a living history, designed to carefully trace the ownership history of UNIX and UNIX-like code with the goal of reducing, or eliminating, the amount of software subject to superficially plausible but ultimately invalid copyright, patent and trade secret claims against Linux or other free and open source software. If there is any code out there that represents a conceivable risk of that kind, we'd like to identify it and mitigate the litigation risk now. If there isn't any valid claim that can be made, we'd like to be able to prove it. Read More
